The Ukrainian flag, a symbol of oppression
It's been over a year since the nation of Ukraine was invaded by Russia. The conflict rages on as battle lines are drawn, and boots are dug into earth. Look, I get it. This is a big deal for white people. It's finally a caucasian nation that's being bombed, (no wonder the US isn't involved). I get that people want to send aid and to help the people in Ukraine. It's a worthy cause to stop the suffering of innocents*. But this issue highlights a conflict of values in the US which we need to talk about. What if, and I know I'm going to lose the white men in the audience when I say this, what if Ukraine was a Queer Black woman? Would white anchors on CNN and FOX be crying about "war crimes" and "mass casualties" if Ukraine was a Queer Black woman? I don't think so. If a Queer Black woman asked Congress for $75 Billion worth of military equipment, and that the President denounce her ex-boyfriend at the UN, would her demands be met? If the nation of Ukraine was Queer, Black, and a woman, would her face be hung up on flagpoles in Ukrainian Village, or Little Ukraine? If George Floyd was a geographic landmass in Eastern Europe spanning 233,090 square miles, do you think Derek Chauvin would have knelt on his neck for 9 minutes, killing him? No, that would be impossible, because then he wouldn't have a neck or even a physical body in general. But more importantly, it's because he'd have white privilege. If Ukraine was a queer black woman, would it still be given a seat at the UN? Would it still be the world's leading producer of sunflower seeds? I don't think I need to answer these questions, because we already know the answer. Absolutely not. The Queer, Black, Disabled, Polyamorous, Drag Queen nation of Ukraine, would never be given the light of day. Ukraine, like usual for countries in Europe, is colonizing the minds of Americans, stealing the spotlight from those people with REAL problems. Because guess what, white people? If you care so much about Europe, why don't you just go back there? You can't, because you descended from albino monkeys that came out of India but are probably from outer space originally. That's right. That's what I believe. Do your research folks. *(Debatable in this case, given their lack of melanin, but we'll save that for another 12 articles).
