LEAVES IN NEW YORK AGREE NOT TO TURN BROWN THIS YEAR TO AVOID BEING SHOT BY POLICE

Fall is right around the corner, and for many Americans, that means pumpkin pie, hay rides, and watching the leaves change color on the trees. For that last part however, New York residents will have to wait, as leaves in their state have made it clear they do not intend to shift from green to brown this year, due to the risk of being racially profiled and shot by police. As one leaf says, "No way, that's just unsafe". It's true, the rise of police brutality against black and brown folx has concerned trees nationwide, worried that if their leaves turn brown, they will be asked to "stop resisting" while being forced into the back of a PT Cruiser While some "scientists" have stepped in and said that leaves turning brown have nothing to do with racism, these claims are disputed. Biologist Rodrigo Rodriguez stated, "Leaves turning brown is simply the loss of chlorophyll at the end of their life cycle, it's a sign they're going to die. A brown leaf is a dead leaf". Many, like Hunter College student Kayla McNally, have postulated that leaves dying after turning brown are due to police brutality. "No, I mean literally a brown leaf is a dead leaf. That's just what leaves look like when they die." It's almost like he's making our point for us now. Will action be taken on this matter? It's hard to say. New Yorkers will most likely stick with their policy of "it's not my business", and look the other way, no matter what happens.
