Danny Trujillo, 12
Danny Trujillo, 12 years old, of Kalkaska, broke records and minds last night when he accomplished the never before seen feat of counting all the way to the end of pi. Pi, which is an irrational number, was previously thought to have been infinite in sequence, and unrepeating. But Danny changed all that. After being challenged by his friend Eduardo, who said if he didn’t do it he was a pendejo, Danny began counting. “At first I was like yo Danny this is just a joke you can’t count to the end it’s infinite. But then he wouldn’t stop, it was like he was in a trance or something, and before I knew it… he did it.” - Eduardo Lopez. Danny Trujillo, 12 Danny’s mother told The Chronicle that her son spent upwards of three hours reciting digits of the number before he reached the end. By the time she came into the room he was sweating and exhausted, yet oddly calm. “My little boy, he really did it.” -Marilena Trujillo [translated from Spanish] Harvard University was quick to open its doors to young Danny, stating it was the most astounding piece of mathematical research they had ever seen, recognizing the boy’s talent. But Danny does not come without his detractors. Mathematicians from across the country have signed a petition to discredit Trujillo, stating there’s no way a fat Mexican kid could change math by just counting. But the truth is inevitable, and so is Danny. When asked about his plans for the future, Trujillo said he wanted to buy a PS5 and play Fortnite with Eduardo. True to his roots, he wouldn’t be leaving family behind. An inspiration for us all, Kalkaska is now on the map for something legal, as children around town are now inspired to do math, thanks to Danny. Danny will be attending Harvard this fall, where he plans to continue his studies.
